RIP Georgia

Since this is my blog to use and abuse as I please, I'm posting an obituary to my dopey dog Georgia who was put to sleep this morning, age 16 1/2 years.

We got Georgia from a rescue centre when she was 8 weeks old so she's been part of our lives for a very long time. If we had visions of long walks with her we would have been disappointed - she has always been the laziest slowest dog in the world, too interested in sniffing the ground to be hassled with hurrying anywhere!

After a small blip in her health as a puppy, she has lived a very healthy life, up until 3 years ago when we thought she had suffered a stroke. It turned out not to be a stroke and she recovered somewhat after a course of steroids, but she was never really the same again. But she remained the most placid and licky dog in the universe.

We will miss her, even if I don't miss having to vacuum clumps of fur up several times a day!

Oh, condolences. Our cat is about the same age, in other words WAY older than my children and such a part of the furniture I can't imagine her not being there. Chin up.

Sounds like she was a fun dog, even if not a fast dog.

Best wishes to you and your family,
Sharon

Wendy...I know the feelings we experience when a pet gets "past it" and we have to make the decision to have them put to sleep. We did the same a few years back with our lovely cat Sheba. She was 19yrs. old and had dementia amongst other health issues...had her since she was a tiny kitten.

Hope you (and especially Rebecca) find adjusting to life without Georgia will be ok. (((((hugs)))))
